great allegheny passage – 2016
My 50th birthday was great excuse to do this exceptional tour again. We drove to Washington DC, parked in a garage, loaded our bikes on the Amtrak Capitol Limited, spent a night in Pittsburgh and started riding. The route follows the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, Maryland, where it connects to the Potomac River canal trail that ends at Lock 1 in DC.
