D&H Trail (NE PA) – 2015
This trail follows an old rail bed and runs north out of Simpson, PA towards the NY border. Simpson is in Lackawanna county, just north of Carbondale. Theoretically, the trail runs 38 miles. When I rode it in 2015, though, it got really rough after 10-15 miles. Even on a hybrid with wide tires, I decided to give up after hitting a few miles of rutted and silty terrain. The Rail-Trail Council of NEPA says it’s been undergoing improvements, so it may be time to give the D&H another try.
